The story of Vulcan Infrastructure and Power’s flagship facility (Greenidge Generation) is the story of Upstate New York itself: industrial heritage, reinvention and a community that refused to be written off.
Born in 1937. Reborn in 2017. A former coal plant on Seneca Lake, transformed by more than $136 million in investment, now powers a modern data center and sends electricity to New York’s grid every minute it operates — anchoring the economy of Yates County and keeping the lights on across the Finger Lakes when demand peaks.

Commissioned by NYSEG in 1937, mothballed in 2011, this facility could have permanently shut its doors and hundreds of jobs would have been lost. Instead, we eliminated coal permanently, built a pipeline, converted it to lower-emissions natural gas and brought it back online in 2017. In November 2025, we signed a landmark five-year air permit with New York State committing us to a 44% cut in permitted emissions by 2030, beyond the state’s own Climate Act goals.
Vulcan Infrastructure and Power owns 37 acres of powered land in Columbus, Mississippi. In Q2 2027, an additional 40MW of power is expected to come online.
The site’s power demand will have no impact on the community’s current energy needs, reinforcing Vulcan’s dedication to efficient and sustainable energy use. By leveraging this site’s capacity, Vulcan Infrastructure and Power will continue to enhance its position as a leader in responsible infrastructure development. This expansion will bring economic benefits to the local community through job creation, tax revenue and infrastructure development.
Vulcan Infrastructure and Power previously expanded its footprint with the development of a site in Underwood, North Dakota, enhancing its capacity by 7.5MW, at a site with fixed power costs and excess power capacity.
The North Dakota site represents a key addition to Vulcan Infrastructure and Power’s portfolio, supported by Engineering, Procurement, and Construction Management contracts that are expected to boost revenue in this growing business line.
